How to Protect Your Money from Art Forgeries?
Art forgeries are all mischievous imitations of works of art, used for gaining money from the naïve art collectors. Art forgeries are different from art copies. Art copies of certain paintings are usually made by other artists. For example, the students of da Vinci, the famous Caracci, Durer , and Rota, copied some of his sketches and paintings to exercise on his style. Art forgeries are worthless, while some art copies can be priceless, depending on the artist that did them. If you are still new in art collection, you had better learn some things about art forgeries, before spending you money on something that is utter rubbish. First of all, upon buying an art, carefully...

Modern Abstract Art
Modern abstract art is synonymous with abstract expressionism, created during the post-World War II era in America, which also made New York the hub of modern art. The art form, coined by art critic Robert Coates in 1946, emphasized spontaneous, automatic or subconscious creation. Through this modern abstract art, an artist expressed himself with the use of form and color, without representing any actual object. Abstract expressionism is considered to be the first American artistic movement, which gained international importance and was originally used to describe the work of Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock and Arshile Gorky. Modern abstract art can be divided into two groups: action...

Careers After Art School

Author:
Jason Gluckman

There is a common perception that there is no money in art. This is mainly because of the popularity of some anecdotes on how artists only gain prestige and earn money when they die, the most famous of which is the story of Vincent Van Gogh. However, these kinds of stories are not applicable to other professions that involve art. This is because there are a number of professions that involve art, which can be very lucrative to those who practice them. This is especially true for those who receive formal training from art schools because the training they receive from these schools equip them with the tools they need to practice their skills in a commercial or company setting.

Professions in art

There are a number of professions that people who have a passion for art can go to after they go to art school. These professions are categorized into four categories that include art directors, craft artists, fine artists, and multi-media artists and animators.

The first category, which is art directing, involves formulating design concepts and making decisions on what would be presented and how it would be presented to the target audience. Usually, art directors work in advertising agencies and are mostly in charge of how an ad should be presented in print media. On the other hand, being a craft artist involves creating handmade objects that include ceramics, stained glass, and pottery, which are sold in the market.

For those who belong to the third category, which is fine art, they usually are the ones who create works that are meant for display in museums and which are sold in auctions. People under this category include painters, sculptors, illustrators, and paint restorers. The last category consists of professions that are involved in creating special effects, animation, and other visual enhancements on film.

Contrary to popular opinion, a profession in art can be very lucrative. This is because there are a number of professions that people with a passion for art can choose from when they finish art school. Some of these professions pay really well, especially those that involve using art to enhance the visual experience in advertising and film, which makes a profession in art not only lucrative but really enjoyable as well.
