Basic Knowledge on Pop Art Paintings
Pop art was an art movement that initially occurred in the United States of America in the early sixties. The epicenter of this art phenomenon was New York, the city confirming its trend setting leader position. Although this movement strongly erupted in the early sixties, the attempts of change started during the late fifties in the work of Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns. These painters wanted to replace the abstract mode of artistic expression, aiming at making the art's message easier to be understood by the public. The first pop art paintings contained easy to recognize images of common items. The purpose of incorporating these objects was to mock the gravity, the metaphysical...

Careers After Art School

Author:
Jason Gluckman

There is a common perception that there is no money in art. This is mainly because of the popularity of some anecdotes on how artists only gain prestige and earn money when they die, the most famous of which is the story of Vincent Van Gogh. However, these kinds of stories are not applicable to other professions that involve art. This is because there are a number of professions that involve art, which can be very lucrative to those who practice them. This is especially true for those who receive formal training from art schools because the training they receive from these schools equip them with the tools they need to practice their skills in a commercial or company setting.

Professions in art

There are a number of professions that people who have a passion for art can go to after they go to art school. These professions are categorized into four categories that include art directors, craft artists, fine artists, and multi-media artists and animators.

The first category, which is art directing, involves formulating design concepts and making decisions on what would be presented and how it would be presented to the target audience. Usually, art directors work in advertising agencies and are mostly in charge of how an ad should be presented in print media. On the other hand, being a craft artist involves creating handmade objects that include ceramics, stained glass, and pottery, which are sold in the market.

For those who belong to the third category, which is fine art, they usually are the ones who create works that are meant for display in museums and which are sold in auctions. People under this category include painters, sculptors, illustrators, and paint restorers. The last category consists of professions that are involved in creating special effects, animation, and other visual enhancements on film.

Contrary to popular opinion, a profession in art can be very lucrative. This is because there are a number of professions that people with a passion for art can choose from when they finish art school. Some of these professions pay really well, especially those that involve using art to enhance the visual experience in advertising and film, which makes a profession in art not only lucrative but really enjoyable as well.

Two Year Art Schools
Given the wide selection of areas in which artists can choose to concentrate with regard to their art studies, it can also be expected that there would be different programs that are designed based on each area of concentration. This is very true, as seen in the different programs that are offered by most art schools in the country. However, among these programs, there are quite a number of them that can be finished within two years, which goes against the general perception that only associate programs can be finished in two years. Given this, people who intend to take formal classes in art should be aware of the different two-year programs that they can avail themselves of. Some two-year programs For budding artists who wish to get the basic skills they need, they can take advantage of various certificate programs, which consist of the most fundamental art courses that aim to arm students with basic theoretical and practical skills in art. Usually, these programs can be taken in one semester, but there are cases wherein some students take two years to finish them. The most common two-year art program is the associate's program wherein students are given general education in the arts to prepare them for a bachelor's degree in the arts. As a result, people who go through associate programs only need to spend two more years in the university because going through an associate program allows students to get their bachelor's degree in as few as two years. This is opposed to situations in which art students get into a university right after high school, which means that they would have to spend four whole years in school. Another two-year art program that art students can avail themselves of is a master's degree in art because there are some master's degree...
